WATERLOO — Town officials have planned three holiday activities for Waterloo, beginning Nov. 30 and continuing through Jan. 12.
Holiday Train
On Nov. 30, enthusiasts will gather at the historic Waterloo Depot to watch for the beautifully lit Canadian Pacific Holiday Train.
The train is expected to come through Waterloo on its way to Chicago on Thursday, Nov. 30, sometime after 10 p.m., although it usually passes around midnight.
“We’re collecting canned fruit or vegetables with pull-tab lids for local food pantries, and offering hot chocolate, cookies, games and good company while we wait in the Depot for the train,” said Town Manager Tena Woenker.
People can follow the train’s progress on facebook.com/HolidayTrain.
Light up Waterloo
“Get those holiday decorations out and make Waterloo sparkle,” in the town’s annual holiday decorating contest, Woenker said.
People can pick up entry forms at the Waterloo Town Hall, use a contact form on the town’s website or email townmanager@waterlooin.gov to be entered into our contest for most attractive lights or decorations.
Then tour the town to see the lights. You can vote for your favorite decorations at Town Hall, using our contact form on the town’s website, , or email the address of favorite decorations to townmanager@waterlooin.gov.
Winners will be announced at the town’s annual chili supper on Jan. 12.
Chili supper
Waterloo’s annual chili supper will take place Friday, Jan. 12, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Waterloo Depot.
People can enjoy a meal with neighbors, enter drawings for door prizes and celebrate winners of the Light Up Waterloo contest. Freewill donations accepted for dinner.
All activities are sponsored by the Town of Waterloo, Friends of the Depot, Friends of the Library and Main Street.
