Transportation Needs in DeKalb County

Community Transportation Network is inviting the community to take the NEI Transportation Assessment. This will be used to assess the gaps in access to local and regional transportation options and to determine the most appropriate and effective service improvements for mobility options and coordination in all communities.

City of Auburn

May 12, 2023

Congratulations to M.F. Projects, LLC on being awarded this street improvement project from the City of Auburn Indiana Government.

Upcoming Street Work:

Morningstar Road – Main Street to Fairway Drive – Road widening along with installation of curbs and sidewalk.

Begins May 15 – for about 8 weeks

Traffic restricted to one way Westbound

Wayne Street – Ensley Avenue to Lincoln Street – Asphalt milling and resurfacing

Mid May to Early June

Iwo Street – 7th Street to AEP Easement – Curb replacement and asphalt milling and resurfacing

Begins June 5 – for about 4 weeks

Center Street – 7th Street to Bridge – Asphalt milling and resurfacing

Begins mid/late June – 1 week

18th Street (Shull Street to Van Buren Street) – Street Reconstruction

Begins early/mid-June – 4-6 weeks

13th Street (Main Street to Cedar Street) – Street Reconstruction

Begins mid/late June – 4-6 weeks

7th Street (RR to Van Buren Street) – Sidewalk and tree removal and replacement

Begins May 17 – 10-12 weeks

Highways:

  • I-69 connecting DeKalb County to Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, & Great Lake Regions

  • I-80/90 is located 30 miles north of DeKalb County allowing easy access to prime markets & major cities

  • US 6 as well as IN-1, 3, 8, 101, 205, 327, & 427 run through DeKalb County

Railways

  • 3 Main Rail Lines in DeKalb

  • CSX & Norfolk Southern provide rail freight service to the area

  • Carriers maintain local reciprocal switching agreements
